Caesar.

This page sets out the regulatory information about my practice. It is intended for clients, prospective clients, and anyone else who wants to understand the basis on which I am authorised to provide legal services.

Who I am and how I am regulated

I am Geoffrey Caesar, a solicitor of England and Wales, authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). My individual SRA number is 483394.

I provide services directly to clients as a freelance solicitor under SRA number 666497. My practice is regulated by the SRA in my individual capacity rather than as an authorised firm.

Practising address

My practising address is:

The Mill House

Mill Lane

Monks Risborough

Buckinghamshire

HP27 9LG

United Kingdom

This is not an address for meetings. Most meetings are conducted by phone or online. Where an in-person meeting is required, we will arrange a mutually convenient venue.

Professional indemnity insurance

As a freelance solicitor, I am not required to hold insurance on the SRA's minimum terms and conditions. I do, however, hold full professional indemnity insurance underwritten at Lloyd's, covering claims up to £1 million. Further details of my insurance arrangements are available on request and will be confirmed in the engagement letter for any matter on which I am instructed.

Client money

I do not operate a client account or hold client money.

If your matter requires handling client money, for example, to complete a business purchase or a commercial lease, I will undertake that work through a third-party law firm with which I work as a consultant solicitor. In that case, your contract for legal services will be with that firm and not with me personally, and the firm's regulatory protections (including its professional indemnity insurance and access to the SRA Compensation Fund) will apply to that work.

Where this arrangement is required, I will make it clear at the outset so that you can decide whether you are content to proceed on that basis.

Compensation Fund

Clients of freelance solicitors providing non-reserved legal services do not have access to the SRA Compensation Fund in respect of work done by that solicitor in their freelance capacity. Where I act through a third-party law firm as described above, the firm's clients do have access to the Compensation Fund in the usual way.

Complaints

My complaints procedure is set out on the Complaints page of this site. It explains how to raise a concern with me, what I will do, and how and when a complaint can be referred to the Legal Ombudsman or the SRA.

Verifying my regulatory status

My entry on the SRA's public register of solicitors can be searched at sra.org.uk. The register confirms my name, regulatory status, and any relevant regulatory record.
